Yesterday I went and saw The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It was great, I loved it, and I’ll see it again. The problem I had was with the three assholes behind me who added commentary the entire time. 3 film nerds who needed to dissect the work right then and there. Let us watch the movie first, take it all in, and then when it comes out on blu-ray, DVD, On-demand (I’m not playing favorites) you can gather round the television and probe it to no end.
I’ve seen at least one movie a week, every week, for the past year and folks talking during the movie is becoming common place. Just shut the fuck up for two hours. If you have questions about the film, save it for the end. Most likely the person sitting next to you doesn’t have the answers because they’re also seeing the movie for the first time. Take the film in, let it sit for awhile, its probably not that complicated. Most movies these days are popcorn fodder anyway.
If all else fails we hire new ushers, my vote is the creatures from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Episode “Hush”, and have them take your voice box until the movie is over. Don’t forget to pick it up on the way out.

Here’s what I think happened with me and Jackass as a whole. The show came out when I was just a punk kid, skating around, looking for a good time. It was top notch for teenagers with too much time on their hands and a couple of shopping carts laying around.

As I grew up I went through a phase where I thought it was stupid, they weren’t funny anymore and had lost its charm. It took me up until a few years ago to actually sit down and watch Jackass 1 and 2, but when I did, the now mature me had fits of nostalgia which caused me to become a fan of these guys once more. They have an undeniable charm about what their doing. They know its awful, but they seem like such a tight knit group of guys, that it doesn’t really matter who hurts who. Plus the look on Johnny Knoxville’s face after almost every stunt is priceless. They still leave him speechless after all these years.

Spike Jonze was also hanging around and looked to use some of his Fully Flared influence on all the slow motion sequences.

I recommend it for a night when you don’t feel like thinking and haven’t eaten anything all day, because they throw up…a lot.

Karate Kid
Turns out, you can learn a life times worth of Kung Fu in just a month or two and take on the youth of China. I thought I was going to like this more, it had all the elements of a cheesy Friday night beat’um up, but I think the Last Samurai burned me out on the whole “America comes along and kicks ass” movie trope. By the end of it I was wishing I had just watched a Jackie Chan movie instead. Chan shows some acting chops though, while Jaden Smith acts a fool to get the babe and become a Kung Fu master.
I’d recommend giving it a watch while falling asleep on the couch, you already know what happens, but it makes for a good Saturday afternoon movie.

By trade, I’m a web developer (or designer, or ux something or other…), so my days generally consist of creating virtual stuffs for the internet and beyond. I just recently finished building a site for a new web series/review site called Pixels & Popcorn. There’s a lot of neat stuff going on behind the scenes with the site, but I’m proud enough of how the thing looks.
Now I just need to get some sort of portfolio put together and some business cards made. It’s only been 3+ years.

Hey thats me…and thats my show! Either this is free press or expect a lawsuit in the near future pal.
Its free press and Pete did an amazing job on the site. Go check it out and watch the show, you’ll learn something about something for sure.
